Chief Fixed Income Strategist, BlackRock Investment Institute

Scott Thiel, Managing Director, is Chief Fixed Income Strategist for BlackRock and a member of the BlackRock Investment Institute (BII). He is responsible for developing and delivering thought leadership on asset allocation, including actionable global fixed income market views based on the insights of our investment community. Mr. Thiel represents BlackRock’s market views for fixed income across client channels and in the media. He is a member of BlackRock's Leadership Committee.

 

Prior to his current role, Mr. Thiel was BlackRock's Deputy Chief Investment Officer of Global Fundamental Fixed Income and had direct portfolio management responsibility for fundamental global bond portfolios, including the World Bond Fund, the Global Government Bond Fund and the Fixed Income Global Opportunities Fund. He has been with BlackRock for more than fifteen years and has held multiple roles within Fixed Income. Before joining BlackRock in 2002, Mr. Thiel was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs & Co. During his 13 years there, he was responsible for developing strategies in both U.S. and international interest rate and derivative markets for institutional money managers.

 

Mr. Thiel earned an AB degree in American history from Princeton University in 1987.
