1. About your job
What is your current role?
現在のお仕事について教えてください。
私はETF事業部のプロダクトチームに所属しており、東証に新しいETF（Exchange Traded Funds）を上場したり、海外チームと連携して海外上場のETFをご紹介しています。
What do you enjoy about your work and what are the challenges that you faced?
仕事のどんなところにやりがいを感じますか？難しかったことは何ですか？
自分の頭の中で考えたアイディアがETFという金融商品の形になり、世の中に出ることにやりがいを感じています。ベーシックな株式や債券だけでなく、テーマ型やサステナブル型など幅広い商品を開発することができるので、常に新しいことを学び、新しいエクスポージャーをマーケットに提供できます。また、入社3年目でありながら裁量の大きいプロジェクトを担当することができるので、課題も多いですが、自主性をもって取り組めていると感じています。最初は右も左もわからず、いろいろな方々に迷惑をかけながら商品開発を学んでいきましたが、直近では自分が担当したETFが国内の投資家だけでなく海外の投資家の保有につながるなど、スケールの大きさを感じると同時に、自分が成長できているとも感じています。

What was your experience with the Internship / Full-time Analyst program?
Internship/Full-time Analyst Programの経験について教えてください。
インターンシップでは最初に課題が与えられ、最後にAPACチーム全体に発表をしました。チームメンバーや部署外の方々にもサポートいただきながら業界の基礎を学び、第一線で活躍するプロフェッショナルなメンバーに、自分の考えたアイディアを発表できる貴重な機会となりました。コロナ禍でのインターンでしたが、逆にリモートであったことにより、海外チームとも距離感なくコネクトできたと考えます。
Why did you apply for BlackRock and what made you decide to join?
ブラックロックを志望した理由、そして入社を決めた理由を教えてください。
元々金融に興味がありながら、モノづくりがしたいと考えていたため、さまざまな資産クラスに触れられ、世界的に最大規模であるブラックロックのETFビジネスにて商品作りができることをとても魅力的に感じました。そういったスケールの大きさの反面、働いている人たちは非常にフレンドリーで、自分もそのチームの一員になりたいと思いました。将来的には、自信をもって業界のエキスパートであると言えるようになれればと思います。マーケットの知識だけではなく、戦略のスキルも磨きながら、幅広い経験を積んでいきたいです。
How has your study or extracurriculars benefited you in your job?
学生時代の経験が業務に役に立ったことは？
経済学を専攻し、金融の授業も受けていましたが、比較的新しいプロダクトであるETFのことはほとんど学んでいませんでした。実際の業務を学ぶには、入社後にチームメンバーに直接聞くのが一番だと考えます。

ブラックロックの文化について教えてください。
チームワークを重視しながら、多様なバックグラウンドを持つ人を歓迎する文化です。私自身、海外で長い期間を過ごして育ったので、会社・チームに溶け込めるのか不安がありましたが、文化的なハードルは感じず、安心して積極的に発言できる環境です。特に、ETF事業部はスタートアップのようなカルチャーがある部署で、常に新しいことにチャレンジし、チーム全体で目標に向かって取り組むことが求められています。
Do you participate in any internal network activities? If so, what do you do?
社内活動（Employee Networkなど）に参加していますか？どのような活動に参加し、どのようなことをしていますか。
アナリストたちのためのネットワークである、Analyst Alleyをリードしており、活動の一環として、社内のシニアメンバーとジュニアをつなぐ、一年間のメンターシッププログラムを運営しています。また、女性の活躍を推進するWIN（Women’s Initiatives & Allies Network）にも所属しており、社内での座談会や国際女性デーのイベント企画に関わりました。
Is there anything you would like to share with the students?
学生へのメッセージをお願いします。
声を上げれば周りの人必ず手を差し伸べてくれるような、フラットで働きやすい環境です。金融業界はあまり考えてこなかった方々も、ぜひチャレンジしていただければと思います。

What is your current role?
現在のお仕事について教えてください。
債券のエキスパートとして、投資家のニーズを理解し、それに応えるためにブラックロックの債券プラットフォームを活用した投資ソリューションの提供やファンドの開発、マーケティング、運用報告などを行っています。具体的には、ファンダメンタルズ債券チームが運用する債券アクティブ・ファンドや、定量債券チームが運用するファンドを担当しており、グローバルなリソースと専門知識を活用して、投資家のニーズに迅速かつ的確に対応しています。
How does your workday look like?
仕事の一日の流れを教えてください。
一日の仕事は、市場概況とポートフォリオの状況を把握することから始まります。朝の時間には、新聞や経済専門誌、マーケット・レポートなどを通じて最新の経済情勢や金融市場の動向をキャッチアップするほか、担当しているポートフォリオの状況やポートフォリオ・マネジャーの視点や見通しを把握します。その後は、日々の業務に応じて様々なタスクが待っていますが、担当戦略のマーケティング活動や投資家のニーズに応えるための投資ソリューションの検討、運用報告に向けた準備などを行っています。
What do you enjoy about your work and what are the challenges that you faced?
仕事のどんなところにやりがいを感じますか？難しかったことは何ですか？
仕事における最大のやりがいは、専門性を活かして、投資家のニーズを満たす投資戦略を提供することです。投資家は、それぞれに異なる目標やリスク許容度を持っているので、それぞれの投資家のニーズを理解し、最適な戦略を提案することで、投資家の運用目標を達成するお手伝いをしています。世界最大の資産運用会社の債券のエキスパートとして、常に最先端の債券投資戦略を学び続ける必要があることは大変ですが、その専門知識を通じて、複雑な投資家のニーズに応える提案ができたときに、成長を感じます。

私が入社した当時は、世界各国の新卒社員がニューヨークに集まって行われる2週間の研修があり、参加しました。この研修では、金融業界の最新動向や、ブラックロックのビジネスについて学ぶことができます。また、世界各国から集まった新卒社員と交流する機会も得られます。世界の各所にいる魅力的で優秀な人たちと関わることが出来たことが印象的で、彼らから多くのことを学び、刺激を受けました。この研修を通して得ることが出来たつながりが日々の仕事でも役に立っています。

学生時代から投資に興味があり、運用業界でのキャリアを築きたいと思っていました。その中で、ブラックロックは世界最大の資産運用会社で、株式、債券、不動産、インフラなど、幅広い資産クラスにおいてもトップクラスのエキスパートが揃っているという点が魅力的でした。また、彼らから最先端の投資戦略やインサイトを学ぶことができるだけでなく、ブラックロックのスケールと専門性を生かして社会に貢献することができると感じました。
How has your study or extracurriculars benefited you in your job?
学生時代の経験が業務に役に立ったことは？
私は、学生時代にバックパッカーとして、アフリカやアジアを旅し、また、カナダにも留学しました。アフリカでは、貧困や紛争を目の当たりにし、その中で、生きるために必死に働く人々の姿を見て、持続可能性や社会的な影響について考える視点を持つようになりました。また、アジアでは、豊かな自然や新しい文化に触れることができ、クライアントとの関係構築や異文化間のコミュニケーションにおいて、柔軟性と敬意を持って対応することの重要性を学びました。カナダ留学では、様々な国籍の人々と交流する機会があり、異なる意見やアイデアを尊重し、柔軟な思考を養うことができ、多様性に富む日々の業務に役に立っていると感じます。

ブラックロックの文化は、個人の意見や貢献を尊重するオープンな環境が特徴です。特に入社1年目からでも、自分の意見やアイデアを積極的にアウトプットすることが重視される風土があります。入社直後から、自分がやりたいと思えば様々な仕事に取り組む機会が与えられ、新たな挑戦にも積極的に取り組むことができます。

社内でのキャリアパスについて教えてください。
ブラックロックでは、社内のキャリアパスにおいて多様な機会が提供されています。私の場合、最初はブラックロックの投資プラットフォームであるAladdinに関連する部門で働きました。そこでは、リスク・モデルや資産配分、ポートフォリオ最適化などに携わる業務を経験しました。この経験を通じて、統計的な分析に加えて、幅広い資産クラスについて学ぶことができました。しかし、私はさらに資産クラスごとの専門性を高めたいと考え、インターナル・モビリティ制度（社内公募制度）を活用して、債券戦略部に社内異動しました。この社内異動によって、思い描いていたとおり債券に関する専門性を高めることができました。更に、マーケットに関する理解を深めることが出来たほか、ビジネスもより広範囲にドライブできるようになったと感じています。

What is your current role?
現在のお仕事について教えてください。
I’m a senior analyst in ACS (known as Aladdin Client Services) within Aladdin, which is the tech arm of BlackRock. In my role, I support individual users from institutional clients in the financial industry both Japan and globally. We receive daily inquiries from clients, and ACS is usually the first contact point.
What do you enjoy about your work and what are the challenges that you faced?
仕事のどんなところにやりがいを感じますか？難しかったことは何ですか？
As an Analyst who just graduated from college, it was hard to imagine myself supporting a senior portfolio manager and communicate with them. Once you start working and building the confidence, you will then start to realize that they trust you as an Aladdin expert. I often feel a sense of achievement through solving complicated issues for our clients. Not only because the issue has been resolved, but it gives me a sense of accomplishment and confidence that my knowledge about Aladdin has truly deepened.

What was your experience with the Intern / Full-time Analyst program?
Internship/Full-time Analyst Programの経験について教えてください。
The Internship Program of ACS is very structured. You will be expected to rotate within the team and learn key applications. At the end of the internship, you are then tasked to deliver a comprehensive demonstration on Aladdin (what we call Life-of-a-Trade). Regarding the Grad Analyst Program, a new grad will get assigned to one specific bucket (there are currently four buckets under ACS based on the functionality/client user group) where you will spend the analyst years to specialize on it. You will learn about the applications, risk models, and the business know-how in depth as you start supporting the clients. Teammates, managers, and mentors will be your great help and you can ask anyone for any questions.
Why did you apply for BlackRock and what made you decide to join?

As a person who went to the business school in New York City, BlackRock was never a stranger – Larry Fink’s quotes often appear in the lectures, which made me feel the sense of acquaintances and bonding with the company in some ways. In addition, I was also interested in the fintech industry overall, so I applied for the internship. Though the internship was challenging, I was excited to learn something new every day. Every member I interacted with was very approachable, including my intern colleagues who had helped me a lot over the course. Therefore, coming back as a full-time analyst after receiving the return offer was not a difficult decision for me.
How has your study or extracurriculars benefited you in your job?
学生時代の経験が業務に役に立ったことは？
Although I went to business school, finance was never my concentration, and I only studied one finance course over my four years of university. Having financial background or IT knowledge is a plus, but they’re not necessary. In Aladdin, everyone starts from zero. In other words, no matter what you study or what you do for extracurriculars, there is always a potential to be an Aladdin expert.

We have 5 Blackrock Principles – we are fiduciary to our clients, we are One BlackRock, we are passionate about performance, we take emotional ownership, we are committed to a better future – and those qualities are important metrics of evaluation. Consequently, I found people at BlackRock to be very friendly and approachable. Specifically in my division ACS, the young team structure creates very energetic and flat atmosphere, which I enjoy a lot and motivates me to perform well.
Tell us about your career path at BlackRock.
社内でのキャリアパスについて教えてください。
You can build your own career path at BlackRock. After spending analyst career at ACS, you might want to join other stakeholder teams within Aladdin, such as client engagement team, implementation team, or to become a level 2 expert, etc. Or you might also consider transferring internally, using the internal mobility system, to the asset management side of the business.
Do you participate in any internal network activities? If so, what do you do?
社内活動（Employee Networkなど）に参加していますか？どのような活動に参加し、どのようなことをしていますか。
There are many employee networks within BlackRock, such as Out & Allies Network (connects the experience of the LGBT community to BlackRock’s principles), Green Team Network (improving BlackRock’s sustainability as a firm), and Ability & Allies Network (provides a sense of community, advocacy, resources and support for all types of disability-related issues within the firm). Everyone is welcome to join any of the activities hosted by the networks as a pure participant or as a core member of these networks. For myself, I participated in International Women’s Day event organized by WIN (Women’s Initiative & Allies Network) where I designed the poster for the event. It reminded me of the good old days when I learned digital design back in university. Also, it was a good opportunity to stay connected with people outside my core business. Recently I joined MOSAIC (known as a ‘network of networks’) as one of the core members, and I am looking forward to the upcoming activities.
Tell us about the Diversity and Inclusion policy, and when did you feel BlackRock’s commitment?
ブラックロックでのダイバーシティ＆インクルージョンについて教えてください。
BlackRock not only has employees across the world, but we also embrace and respect each other’s cultures and backgrounds. Because my team requires language fluency in both Japanese and English, everyone has various multicultural backgrounds. Recently, we also welcomed experienced hires to the team, so it is interesting to hear their previous working experiences. They all bring unique mindsets/dynamics that are different from the new grads, which helps add another lens of perspective when driving the business.
Is there anything you would like to share with the students?
学生へのメッセージをお願いします。
It is totally understandable to not know what you’d like to pursue in your career while in the university or even at the early stage of your career. If you are unsure, just start by learning about the firm’s philosophy, the people, and the business. Internships are often the best opportunities to get to know those aspects and see if the company aligns with your values. Use your wild card wisely – people tend to be very generous and patient to students/people who just graduated from school. I would say ACS is a good starting point to get exposed to multiple areas in the business and to figure out what you want to pursue in your career.
