Laura Segafredo, PhD

Managing Director, Head of Global Sustainable and Transition Implementation Research at BlackRock

Laura Segafredo, PhD., is the Head of BlackRock’s Global Sustainable and Transition Implementation Research team. In this role, she is responsible for driving research for developing sustainable products, creating thought leadership, and helping clients meet their financial and sustainability objectives. Laura oversees a team of researchers who assess the quality of sustainability data and analytics, conduct analysis on sustainable strategy performance and produce content on sustainability-related topics for different regions.

 

In her previous role, Laura was a member of the ESG Investing team of BlackRock's Global Fixed Income. Her focus was on evaluating climate change risks and opportunities in the context of fixed income investing. In that role, Laura gained deep expertise in green, social and sustainable bonds, and especially on tracking and assessing the environmental impact of these innovative fixed income instruments.

 

Prior to joining BlackRock, Laura spent over a decade in academia, philanthropy, utilities and think tanks in the U.S. and Europe. She has published several research papers in conjunction with other industry experts. Laura has a Ph.D. in Energy Studies from the University of Padova, an M.Sc. in Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics and a B.A. in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Padova. She was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, both during her undergraduate and Ph.D. studies.
