Shawn Steel, CFA

Shawn Steel, CFA, Director, is a Senior Product Strategist in BlackRock's Systematic Fixed Income (SFI) team. In this role, he is responsible for communicating the breadth and depth of the SFI team's alternative strategies including Fixed Income GlobalAlpha (FIGA), Capital Structure Investments (CSI), and the Alternative Capital Strategies (ACS) retail mutual fund.

Mr. Steel's service with the firm dates back to 2001, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was a Senior Fixed Income Product Strategist, focusing on BGI's long-only active and long/short alternative fixed income strategies. Prior to joining BGI, he was with Franklin Templeton Investments in their Management Training Program.

Mr. Steel serves on the board of La Casa de Las Madras, an organization that provides advocacy and support services to women, teens, and children exposed to and at risk of domestic violence in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Mr. Steel earned a BA degree in business administration from Hanover College.
