Shawn Steel, CFA

Shawn Steel, CFA, Managing Director, is a senior product strategist within BlackRock’s Systematic investment team. In this role, he is responsible for communicating the breadth and depth of the team's active and alternative strategies including Systematic Total Alpha, Fixed Income GlobalAlpha and the Systematic Multi-Strategy mutual fund.

Mr. Steel's service with the firm dates back to 2001, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was a Senior Fixed Income Product Strategist, focusing on BGI's long-only active and long/short alternative fixed income strategies. Prior to joining BGI, he was with Franklin Templeton Investments in their Management Training Program.

Mr. Steel serves on the board of La Casa de Las Madras, an organization that provides advocacy and support services to women, teens, and children exposed to and at risk of domestic violence in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Mr. Steel earned a BA degree in business administration from Hanover College and is a CFA charter holder.
