Methodology & considerations

The Advisor Center Connector uses Model Context Protocol (MCP) to securely connect approved AI applications with Advisor Center 360°, which provides data. The connector does not provide investment advice, recommendations, execute trades or control your AI application or its output. Output is provided by your selected AI application. Your AI application’s LLM determines how and when to incorporate Advisor Center data. Advisor Center data is provided on an informational and hypothetical basis and is not an investment recommendation. Your LLM may use additional sources for responses, which could differ from analysis done in BlackRock Advisor Center directly.

Data and Privacy

The Advisor Center Connector is designed with security, privacy, and existing BlackRock governance controls at its core.

Secure, authenticated access

Access is limited to verified financial professionals with active BlackRock Advisor Center accounts. Authentication is managed through BlackRock’s secure sign-in process using industry-standard OAuth 2.1 protocols, helping ensure each interaction is tied to an authenticated advisor.

Existing permissions remain in place

The connector does not change or expand an advisor’s existing Advisor Center permissions. Advisors can access only the portfolios, analytics, and capabilities they are already authorized to use. Using an AI interface does not create new permissions or alter existing governance controls.

Data is not used to train AI models

BlackRock data accessed through the connector is not used to train or fine-tune AI models.

Advisor actions remain controlled

Advisors can access analytics and save their own portfolios in BlackRock Advisor Center 360° through the connector, consistent with their existing permissions. Any portfolio changes explored through the connector are hypothetical simulations and trades cannot be executed, or changes made to client accounts.

Activity is traceable and monitored

Advisor activity may be logged and tied to the authenticated user to support applicable security, oversight, audit, and compliance requirements. BlackRock may monitor connector usage and limit or suspend access when necessary.

Advisor Center 360° remains the source of record

Advisor Center 360° remains the source of record for BlackRock analytics and underlying methodologies. Advisors are responsible for reviewing and validating outputs from both BlackRock Advisor Center and any AI platform and applying their professional judgment, including any required disclosures, before using results in client-facing activities or investment processes.

  • The BlackRock Advisor Center Connector enables verified financial professionals to securely access Advisor Center 360° portfolio analytics through supported AI applications, including Claude, using natural language. It provides a conversational way to explore Advisor Center analytics within an AI-enabled workflow.

  • Go to claude.ai/settings/connectors and select Organization connectors in the top-right corner. Search for the BlackRock Advisor Center plugin and/or Anthropic Claude for Financial Advisors plugin and click Add. You’ll be prompted to review and accept the BlackRock Advisor Center Terms of Use addendum before the connector is added to your account. Once added, open a new chat in Claude and ask a question related to your portfolios. The first time you use the connector, you may be redirected to the BlackRock login page, where you’ll sign in using your Advisor Center credentials. After successfully signing in, you’ll be redirected back to Claude and can begin using the BlackRock Advisor Center connector.

  • Advisors can use the connector to explore portfolio risk, exposures, concentrations, costs, cash allocations, stress tests, portfolio comparisons, model portfolios, and hypothetical portfolio changes. It can support activities such as preparing for client meetings, reviewing portfolios, comparing allocations, and exploring potential scenarios.

  • The connector uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to securely connect supported AI applications with Advisor Center 360°. When an advisor asks a question, the connector accesses relevant Advisor Center data and analytics, subject to the advisor’s existing permissions, and returns the results through the AI experience.

  • When the BlackRock Advisor Center connector is called, portfolio data and analytics accessed come from Advisor Center 360°, combined with additional data and insights from your AI platform. The connector provides a new way to interact with Advisor Center analytics; it does not replace the underlying Advisor Center analytical engine.

  • The connector is available to verified financial professionals with an active BlackRock Advisor Center account and access to a supported AI application. Existing Advisor Center permissions continue to apply, so advisors can access only the information and capabilities they are already authorized to use.
