Investor demographics are shifting with more investors looking to put their money to work for causes they care about or that align with their values. According to study by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, millennials believe the primary purpose of business is to improve society. Identifying those investments which can deliver positive impact while achieving investment goals isn’t easy, but it is possible. Impact investing, as this is known, is playing an increasing role in building a portfolio with expanding opportunities in sustainability-driven investments in health, environment, and social sector.
Investors could start thinking about how impact investing can play in their broader strategy. As impact becomes an increasingly mainstream investment option, retail investors will have the opportunity to gain access to more market-based investment options leading to a significant flow of capital dedicated to solving challenges facing our society.
