Board of directors

  • James Charrington
    James Charrington is a Senior Advisor at BlackRock and the Non-Executive Chairman of BlackRock Group Limited, the primary operating entity of BlackRock EMEA.

    Prior to his current role Mr Charrington held a number of senior executive positions within the firm serving as Head of BlackRock EMEA and as a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee and Global Operating Committee.

    Mr Charrington’s service with the firm dates back to 1993 and includes his time with Mercury Asset Management ( MAM ) and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers ( MLIM ) which merged with BlackRock in 2006. At MLIM, Mr Charrington was most recently Head of the Retail platform for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Asia and Latin America region.

  • Ahmed Talhaoui
    Ahmed Talhaoui is the Head of the Middle East & Africa Business and Head of EMEA Product Strategy for BlackRock's Global Fixed Income Group.

    Prior to joining Blackrock in 2014, Mr. Talhaoui was Head of Investments at the Pension Fund of the United Arab Emirates, in Abu Dhabi. In this role, he had responsibility for the investment of the Fund's assets, including the assessment and selection of external managers of traditional and hedge fund assets, and day-to-day responsibility for managing the Fund's proprietary fixed income and liquidity portfolios.

    He was previously Head of Portfolio Solutions with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with Blackrock in 2009.In that role, Mr. Talhaoui was responsible for the management and oversight of all EMEA Index, iShares and model based active fixed income funds.
    Prior to joining BGI, Mr Talhaoui started as a front office developer at  JP Morgan in 1997, and was Head of Fixed Income Quantitative Portfolio Management at Credit Suisse Asset Management from 1999 to 2005.

    Mr. Talhaoui earned a Master in Engineering in Applied Mathematics from Ecole Nationale d'informatique et mathematiques (ENSIMAG), France in 1997

  • Mireille
    Mireille is the Head of Private Equity distribution for EMEA and for Alternatives products in the Middle East within the BlackRock Alternatives Specialist group.

    Prior to joining BlackRock in 2015, Ms Abujawdeh was a member of KKR's Client and Partner Group.  She led the capital raising effort for KKR across the Middle East for all products including private equity, real estate, infrastructure and private credit. Before joining KKR, Ms Abujawdeh was with Goldman Sachs Group for over 12 years. She spent 8 years in the Investment Banking division focused on providing financing to corporates and 4 years in GSAM covering Middle East institutional investors across all products.

    Ms Abujawdeh earned an MBA from London Business School, a BA (hons) in Law & Social Sciences from University of Sussex and has passed the Law Society's Final Examination.

  • Louise Cotter
    Louise is COO and Business Manager for MEA business. In this role Louise works with the MEA country manager and regional management team focusing on financial, strategy and project management alongside management insight and key initiatives oversight.

    Ms. Cotter's service with the firm dates back to 2007. Prior to moving to her current role in 2015, Ms. Cotter was a member of Corporate Strategy team, where she supported business leaders in developing strategic priorities and led cross functional initiatives. From 2007 to 2008, she was part of the EMEA retail competitor intelligence team, responsible for external competitor research. Prior to joining BlackRock, Ms. Cotter worked for Threadneedle Asset Management, Gartmore and State Street Investment in various market intelligence and insight roles.

  • Yazeed Almubarak
    Yazeed Almubarak is the CEO and Director of BlackRock Saudi Arabia. In this role, Yazeed will oversee the firm’s strategic growth initiatives in the market including developing partnerships, building out our local client service and investment capabilities. He joined the firm in May 2019.

    Prior to joining BlackRock, Mr. Almubarak was a Vice President at Jadwa Investment, a Riyadh-based asset manager, as part of the private equity team where he executed deals in the region. At Jadwa Investment, he was involved in acquisition execution, post-acquisition initiatives including strategic planning, enhancing corporate governance and IPO preparation as well as on executing exit transactions for portfolio companies. Mr. Almubarak served as a member of the board of directors and executive committees of portfolio companies at Jadwa Investment. Prior to Jadwa Investment, Mr. Almubarak worked at Morgan Stanley in London and Dubai as part of the investment banking division focused on mergers & acquisitions execution within the financial institutions and petrochemical sectors.

    Yazeed earned a B.S. in industrial and systems engineering with an honor distinction from King Fahad University for Petroleum and Minerals and a MBA from Stanford University.

  • Malrajeh

    May AlRajeh joined BlackRock Saudi Arabia in January 2021, and her role includes regulatory, management and tax reporting.

    Prior to joining BlackRock, May was the Finance Manager at UBS Saudi Arabia. She started her career with Airbus Defence & Space and Morgan Stanley Saudi Arabia over 7 years in finance department.

    May holds a Master degree with an International Accounting & Finance major from University of Liverpool. She also holds Bachelor of Administrative Science majoring in Accounting from King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

  • faisal-alnafisah

    Faisal Alnafisah, Vice President, is a member of the Saudi Client Business team, responsible for driving the development and deepening of client relationships in the country and ensure the delivery of the breadth and depth of the BlackRock offering in Saudi Arabia. 

    Prior to joining BlackRock, Faisal was an Associate Director of Alternative Investments at MASIC, where he was responsible for the development and execution of the alternative investments program. During his role, Faisal was responsible for driving the overall management of the existing portfolio along with selecting and identifying new investment managers in the alternative space. Before joining MASIC, Mr Alnafisah was a Senior Analyst at Hassana Investment Company, the asset management arm for GOSI. Faisal was part of the international investments team, where he worked on monitoring and selecting investment managers across a wide range of assets classes in the private and public space. 

    Faisal earned a B.S. in Finance from Saint Mary’s University from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. 

  • Yasir

    Yasir joined BlackRock Saudi Arabia as part of the Arranging Team in October 2019.

    He is responsible for managing the firm's existing relationships with Institutional clients in the Kingdom as well as developing new business. Prior to his new role, he was relationship manager supporting Aladdin Implementations which was responsible for delivering risk data and index solutions to clients of BlackRock’s enterprise system, Aladdin.

    Mr. Alani service with BlackRock dates back to 2010. He moved from London to Riyadh in 2019 to provide on the ground client support and work more closely with his key stakeholders. Prior to joining BlackRock, Mr. Alani worked at JPMorgan Asset Management as client service specialist servicing the firm's institutional clients.

    Mr. Alani earned a B.S. degree in Finance from Drexel University in Philadelphia and Business Management Diploma from London School of Economics, London.
