Juan Alberto Leautaud

Managing Director, Head of BlackRock’s Mexico Infrastructure Investment Group

Juan Alberto Leautaud, Managing Director, is Head of BlackRock’s Mexico Infrastructure Investment Group, with over 15 years of experience investing in Mexican real assets.


Prior to BlackRock, Mr. Leautaud was a founder of I Cuadrada (I2), the leading infrastructure investment manager in Mexico, and served as COO and subsequently CEO of the platform. Mr. Leautaud has been responsible for identifying, structuring, negotiating and executing 10 transactions involving an aggregate asset value of approximately $100 billion pesos (above US$5 billion) across a wide range of sectors.


Prior to I2, Mr. Leautaud served as Chief Operating Officer at Mexico Retail Properties. In this position, Mr. Leautaud developed and managed a real estate portfolio comprising of 17 properties, with almost 500,000 square meters of GLA. During his tenure as COO, Mexico Retail Properties’ revenue grew from 23 million pesos to more than 500 million pesos creating a portfolio with more than 1,300 tenants. Mr. Leautaud also was Director of Operations in Constructora Las Águilas, a company focused in development and management of real estate. Mr. Leautaud was also part of McKinsey & Co. as Associate Principal, focusing on the transportation and energy sectors.


Mr. Leautaud has a MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering and an MBA, both from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He also has a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Iberoamericana, where he graduated with Honors in 1993.
