Mark Saxe is a Managing Director and Senior Investment Professional dedicated to the Global Energy & Power Infrastructure team at BlackRock, which currently manages over $8 billion for investment in the power, midstream, utility and other areas in the energy sector across three long term funds. The team completed its fundraising for a third $5.1 billion fund in April 2020. The team has created over 35 portfolio companies for the Funds and is actively investing globally. BlackRock acquired the Funds in 2017, which were created and built at First Reserve, a private equity firm that has been investing in exclusively in the energy sector since 1983.
Mr. Saxe joined the Energy and Power Infrastructure business at First Reserve in 2011. The team now includes about 35 investment professionals and is located in Greenwich Connecticut, London and Houston. The Team expects to open an office in the Asia-Pacific region in 2020. Prior to First Reserve, Mr. Saxe worked at Loews Corporation where he was part of a team responsible for monitoring the Company's investments in upstream and midstream. Mr. Saxe's responsibilities include investment origination, execution and exit strategy focused primarily on the midstream sector.
Mr. Saxe holds a Bachelors of Commerce from McGill University with concentrations in Finance and Information Technology.
