Global Head of Financial Institutions Group and Financial Markets Advisory

Charles Hatami, Managing Director, is the Global Head of BlackRock's Financial Institutions Group and the Financial Markets Advisory business. He is a member of BlackRock's Global Operating Committee and the Client Executive Committee.


Mr. Hatami is responsible for BlackRock's Global Financial Institutions Group, the leading insurance asset management business in the world. Mr. Hatami is also responsible for BlackRock's advisory business, which delivers a range of balance sheet management & analytics, capital markets and portfolio construction services to banks, insurance companies and official institutions globally.


Prior to joining BlackRock in 2010, Mr. Hatami served as the Managing Partner of Xeryus Capital Management, a boutique global macro hedge fund he founded in London, UK. Previously, he worked at Banco Itau in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Prior to that, he worked as a research analyst at a hedge fund in NYC and in risk management at BNP Paribas in Frankfurt, Germany.


Mr. Hatami serves as a member of the Executive Council of the International Insurance Society, a global forum for all insurance industry stakeholders. Mr. Hatami also serves as an Advisory Board member of the MIT Golub Center for Finance & Policy.


Mr. Hatami earned an MBA degree with concentration in finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, and an MSc. in Financial Engineering, with honors, from Leonardo Da Vinci Engineering School in Paris, France.
