Head of Climate and Sustainability Research, BlackRock Sustainable Investing (BSI)

Chris Weber is Head of Climate and Sustainability Research within BlackRock Sustainable Investing (BSI). BSI is responsible for driving BlackRock's leadership in sustainable investing through the development of cutting-edge climate and sustainability research and integration of these insights throughout BlackRock's suite of investment solutions and Aladdin. Chris helps to lead the firm's work on climate and transition modelling, ESG data strategy, and climate and sustainability thought leadership.


Chris previously worked at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), where he was the Global Climate and Energy Lead Scientist. While at WWF, Chris played important roles in the Science-based Targets Initiative for climate and served as the first Technical Director of the nature-oriented Science-based Targets Network. He also previously worked at 2 Degrees Investing, where he led analysis and methodology development on climate-related risk and opportunities in investment portfolios. Chris's background in climate and sustainability research also includes academic research, government, and corporate sustainability consulting.


Chris earned a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa, a MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, and a PhD in Engineering and Public Policy and Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon.
