Global Head of Sustainable Investing for BlackRock’s Infrastructure and Real Estate platforms.

Katherine Sherwin, Director, is the Global Head of Sustainable Investing for BlackRock’s Infrastructure and Real Estate platforms. In her role, Katherine leads the development and implementation of strategies that advance ESG integration and sustainable investing principles across BlackRock's global Infrastructure and Real Estate platforms, which collectively manages equity and debt investments and investor commitments. She works with BlackRock's Infrastructure and Real Estate investment teams to integrate sustainability and transition considerations into their investment processes, asset management activities, portfolio company engagement, and product strategy, design and development.

 

Katherine is also responsible for sustainability regulatory compliance, ESG disclosure and client engagement for BlackRock Infrastructure and Real Estate and oversees sustainability and impact reporting across the platforms, as well as managing BlackRock’s submissions into industry ESG benchmarking programmes, including the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB). Katherine is a member of the Global Value-Add Real Estate Investment Committee and BlackRock’s Sustainable and Transition Investment Committee. She also acts as an observer on the Investment Committee for BlackRock’s Evergreen Infrastructure Partners Fund.

 

Externally, Katherine is Chair of the GRESB Infrastructure Standards Committee and Chair of the British Property Federation (BPF) Sustainability Committee. She is also a member of the IIGCC Renewable Energy Working Group.

 

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2015, Katherine worked as an environmental and sustainability consultant for nine years, providing professional advisory, auditing and reporting services to a range of clients. Katherine earned her BSc (Hons) degree in Environmental Science from the University of Nottingham and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
