Quyen Tran is BlackRock's Global Director of Impact Investing. She also serves as Head of Sustainable Investing in Fundamental Equities, Office of the CIO, where she provides research, strategy, and oversight on sustainable investing from an active equities lens.


Quyen created the framework and unifying standard for BlackRock’s core criteria for impact investing across asset classes and best practices in measurement, building consensus across teams. Her expertise on steering committees and her work with investment teams directly led to the launch of diverse impact strategies firmwide. Her leadership on foundational concepts, research publications, creation of the firm’s first impact investing annual reports, and ongoing advisory has supported all impact strategies during their lifecycles.


Committed to advancing the sustainable investing ecosystem, Quyen partners with academia and industry. She is a Professor of Impact Investing at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy where her students have earned the top recognitions in impact and sustainable finance competitions. Quyen is a member of Harvard Business School's Alumni for Impact Initiative, member of working groups at the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), has served as Board Advisor at the Impact Management Project (IMP), and is a frequent speaker at global forums including those at Harvard, MIT, the United Nations Global Compact Leaders Summit, and conferences in Australia, Asia, Europe, and North America.


At Wellington, she served as the firm's Sustainable Investment Strategist. In her role guiding the development of the firm’s 1st impact strategy in public equities, she researched the philosophical underpinnings against public equities and developed counterarguments with a new framework for impact with integrity in the asset class, setting the firm’s standard. At Cambridge Associates, Quyen advised endowments and foundations on investment strategy.


She has worked extensively with non-profits, particularly for causes supporting children's education. Quyen earned her MBA from Harvard Business School and her BA, cum laude, in philosophy from Mount Holyoke College where she was awarded the J.M. Warbeke Prize, the top recognition in the Department of Philosophy. She studied philosophy abroad at the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarnath, India.
