Stephen Cohen

Stephen Cohen, Vice Chairman, is responsible for strengthening some of the firm's most strategic relationships, driving growth for BlackRock, and delivering on the firm's key strategic initiatives.

Prior to becoming Vice Chairman, Mr. Cohen served as BlackRock's Chief Product Officer. In this role, he was responsible for the business strategy, innovation, and commercialisation of BlackRock's full investment product platform, and he led BlackRock’s global iShares ETF business.

During his time at BlackRock, Mr. Cohen has served as Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), leading BlackRock's business across the region. He was the Head of the iShares, Index and Wealth businesses in EMEA, served as Global Head of Fixed Income Indexing responsible for the fixed income ETF business and the fixed income index investment group, and as Chief Investment Strategist for International Fixed Income and iShares.

Mr. Cohen joined BlackRock in 2011 from Nomura, where he was Global Head of Equity Linked Strategy and led the No. 1 Institutional Investor-ranked Convertibles Research team. He joined Nomura from ING Barings in 2003, having started his career in fixed income at UBS in 1996.

He earned a First Class Honours degree in Economics from the University of Southampton.
