Charles Hatami, Senior Managing Director, is Global Head of the Financial & Strategic Investors Group (FSIG), Head of Middle East, and Co-Head of the Global Partners Office (GPO). He is a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee.

Under Charles' leadership, FSIG and GPO are transforming BlackRock’s global relationships with large asset owners, such as insurers and sovereign wealth funds, by supporting their evolving investment, portfolio, and business needs. FSIG includes our Financial Institutions Group (FIG)—the world’s leading insurance asset management business—and our Financial Markets Advisory (FMA) unit, which delivers a range of capital markets, balance sheet management, and risk and analytics advice to banks, insurers, and official institutions globally.

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2010, Charles was the founder and Managing Partner of Xeryus Capital Management, a London-based boutique global macro hedge fund. He worked previously at Banco Itaú in Brazil and started his career at BNP Paribas in Germany.

Based in New York, Charles serves as an Advisory Board member of the MIT Golub Center for Finance & Policy, and as a Trustee of the Board at the Lycée Français. Charles is also a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Charles earned an MBA degree with a concentration in finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, and an MSc. in Financial Engineering, with honors, from Leonardo Da Vinci Engineering School in Paris, France.
