Pieter Houlleberghs

Pieter Houlleberghs is Managing Director for Decarbonization Partners, BlackRock and Temasek’s joint venture that invests in the next generation of innovative decarbonization solutions and businesses to accelerate global efforts to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Prior to joining BlackRock in February 2022, Pieter worked for Temasek for 9 years where he most recently led Temasek's energy transition and circular economy growth investment activity in the Americas. Pieter joined Temasek in 2013 in Singapore and established the firm's strategy shift from resource extraction to clean energy and resource efficiency. In 2016 Pieter transferred to New York to build out Temasek's network, partnership ecosystem and direct investment portfolio.

Pieter has 18 years of investment experience in the global energy and materials sectors. He has been responsible for originating and executing public and private investments across the capital structure and engaging with portfolio companies to achieve attractive investment return outcomes.

Before joining Temasek, Pieter held senior investment banking roles covering the energy and resources sector with UBS, Rothschild and Barclays in London and Sydney. He currently serves on the board of Monolith Materials (clean Hydrogen and materials) and Carbon Direct (Carbon management services).

Pieter holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) from Imperial College London with First Class Honours.
