Prior to joining BlackRock in 2015, Mr. Sanchez spent 26 years at a Abengoa group, a global technological, engineering and construction of infrastructure in the sectors of energy and water, that has developed projects for more than 2.2 Gw of renewable power, more than 7 Gw of conventional power, more than 45,000 km of power transmission lines, and more than 1,300 million liter per day of desalinated water. In 2010, Mr. Sanchez became the CEO of Abengoa, and was also Chairman of Abengoa Yield since 2013. Previously, since 2001, he was the CEO of Telvent, the Nasdaq listed subsidiary of Abengoa developing real time IT projects in the energy, water, transportation and health care sectors, and General Manager of operations in Mexico since 2005.
Mr. Sanchez is an industrial engineer from the ICAI School of Engineering in Madrid (Universidad Pontificia Comillas) and completed the Senior Management Program at IPADE Business School in Mexico in 1997/98.
Mr. Sanchez is a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Business Initiative at the McDonough Business School of Georgetown University, Washington DC since March 2013.
