Armando Senra, Managing Director is Head of Latin America and Iberia for BlackRock, based in New York. In this role, he is responsible for all business activities in markets across the region including Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Spain. He is a member of BlackRock’s Global Operating Committee and Human Capital Committee.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Senra was BlackRock’s Deputy Head of Latin America and Country Head of Iberia, based in Madrid, responsible for the Wealth and Institutional businesses in Latin America as well as all business efforts in Iberia.
Mr. Senra’s service with BlackRock dates back to 1994, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006. From 2003 to 2008, Mr. Senra served as Head of MLIM’s International Global Wealth Management Business, based in London, leading teams located in EMEA, Asia, the US, and Latin America. In this capacity, he managed all aspects of the business including distribution, product strategy, and marketing, driving MLIM’s market share growth within the private client segment globally excluding the US.
From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Senra was Director of MLIM’s Private Investor Business in Madrid, where he built the private investors team. The role encompassed spearheading business development in Iberia as well as serving as portfolio manager in charge of implementing model portfolios across segregated mandates. In 1998, Mr. Senra relocated from New York to London where he became Head of Distribution for Merrill Lynch’s EMEA Global Wealth Management business. He began his career in 1994 at Merrill Lynch, taking on a number of roles across the firm in both New York and Princeton.
Mr. Senra earned a BA degree in Economics and Business Administration from Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, Madrid, in 1993.
