Head of the Aladdin Risk for Wealth Management (ARWM) Business

Woo Fung Kwong, Managing Director, is the Head of the Aladdin Risk for Wealth Management (ARWM) business within BlackRock Solutions (BRS). Mr. Kwong and his team are responsible for building and delivering Aladdin's portfolio risk analytics to wealth management firms globally, with tools to perform central risk oversight and build better portfolios for clients. Through the ARWM business, BRS is bringing the same risk management models and techniques used by BlackRock's investment teams and sophisticated institutional clients worldwide to the wealth management industry and retail.

 

In addition to leading the ARWM efforts, Mr. Kwong is also Head of BRS Analytics which is responsible for building the financial models to analyze securities and portfolios. These analytics are delivered via Aladdin, a proprietary multi-asset investment and risk management system that can bring significant scale in helping our clients understand the risks that they have and impact of potential changes in their portfolios. The Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) within BRS Analytics is responsible for applying Aladdin's analytical capabilities in supporting a wide range of strategic firm wide initiatives across investments, risk management, clients, and business operations.

 

Mr. Kwong began his career at BlackRock as an analyst in 1994. Over his career at the firm, Mr. Kwong has provided leadership in a variety of initiatives: risk advisory and hedging for insurance companies and mortgage banks at the beginning of the BRS business, performing portfolio analyses for BlackRock's diverse investor and client base, building the infrastructure and scale necessary to support Aladdin's growth in analyzing trillions of dollars in client assets, integrating acquired businesses onto Aladdin, and evolving Aladdin into a global multi-asset risk platform. Mr. Kwong also focuses significant time on mentoring and developing talent globally: overseeing the PAG analyst program, sponsoring the NYC Associates network, and serving on the Global Human Capital Committee.

 

Mr. Kwong earned a BA degree, cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors, in applied mathematics and economics from Harvard University in 1994.
