David Frechette

Head of Credit Strategy within the BlackRock Alternatives Specialists Group

David Frechette, Managing Director, co-leads credit strategy development for BlackRock Alternatives Specialists (BAS) in the US and Canada which includes BlackRock’s opportunistic debt, middle market investing and specialty finance platforms. BlackRock Alternative Specialists is focused on building and delivering the firm’s global alternative investment platform to clients including public and private pension plans, insurance companies, foundations, endowments and industry consultants.

 

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2012, Mr. Frechette was a senior portfolio manager at Liberty Harbor, an alternative asset management business of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. As a founding member of Liberty Harbor and a member of the Investment Committee, he was responsible for assisting in the management of the group's fundamental investment and trading strategies. He had been with Goldman Sachs since 2006.

 

From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Frechette managed the Private Assets Portfolio in the Corporate Investments Group at Amaranth Advisors. Prior to joining Amaranth, Mr. Frechette was a member of the Leverage Finance and Sponsor Coverage Group at CIBC World Markets, where he worked with the firm's private equity and corporate clients to originate, structure and execute debt, preferred and private equity financings. Prior to assuming that role, Mr. Frechette focused on CIBC's European High Yield products. Mr. Frechette also previously worked in the High Yield Group at Chase Securities, in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Lehman Brothers and at the Argosy Group.

 

Mr. Frechette earned a BA in political economy from Williams College in 1993.
