Ben Garland, CFA, Director, is a Senior Investment Strategist in BlackRock's Factor-Based Strategies Group within the Multi-Asset Strategies Group. In this role he is responsible for communicating the breadth and depth of the company's risk parity, long/short style factor and smart beta capabilities to investors across the Asia Pacific region.


Prior to assuming his current role in 2017, Mr Garland was Head of Asia Pacific Index Strategy, responsible for product strategy and client relationships for all institutional index equity capabilities in the Asia Pacific region. His service with the firm dates back to 1999, including ten years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009.


Mr Garland relocated to Hong Kong from Australia in 2010 to join the iShares ETF Specialist team, providing portfolio and product analytics to ETF clients in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to this, he was a Client Solutions Strategist, providing portfolio consulting and analytical services to Australian institutional investors.


Mr Garland has a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Nottingham (UK) and has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder since 2003.
