Stephen Boyd

Professor and Chair of the Electrical Engineering Department, Stanford University

Stephen Boyd is a senior advisor for the BlackRock AI Lab.  He is also professor and chair of the Electrical Engineering Department at Stanford University, with courtesy appointments in Computer Science and also Management Science and Engineering. His research focuses on convex optimization, with applications in automatic control, signal processing, machine learning, and finance.  He received an AB degree in Mathematics from Harvard University, and his PhD from University of California at Berkeley in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
