BlackRock appoints Geraldine Buckingham as Chair and Head of BlackRock Asia Pacific; Ryan Stork appointed as Deputy Global Chief Operating Officer

ASIA PACIFIC, November 26, 2018  BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE: BLK) today appointed Geraldine Buckingham as Chair and Head of BlackRock Asia Pacific, succeeding Ryan Stork, who becomes Deputy Global Chief Operating Officer, based in New York. Both appointments take effect February 2019 and Ms. Buckingham will relocate to Hong Kong from New York.

Ryan Stork, Senior Managing Director, is BlackRock’s Chairman for the Asia Pacific region. He is responsible for all business activities in the region, which includes Greater China, Japan, Australia, Singapore, India and Korea. He is also a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee, Global Operating Committee and Global Talent Sub-Committee. As a longtime supporter of the LGBT+ cause and a Global Executive Co-Sponsor of BlackRock’s OUT & Allies Network, Mr. Stork has been named a “Top 50 Ally Executive” to the Financial Times OUTstanding list of top LGBT+ leaders and allies in October 2018. He will become BlackRock’s Deputy Global Chief Operating Officer effective February 2019.

Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Mr. Stork was the global head of the Aladdin Business within BlackRock Solutions in New York. Aladdin is BlackRock’s fully integrated investment management technology platform. Within the Aladdin Business, Mr. Stork was responsible for client relationships and business development, as well as implementation and delivery of Aladdin services and its third-party investment accounting business.

Prior to taking over the Aladdin Business, Mr. Stork was deputy head of BlackRock’s Europe, Middle East and Africa institutional business from 2005 to 2008. Based in London, he was responsible for business development and client service across the region. From 1999 to 2005, Mr. Stork worked within the institutional business leading the client service effort for BlackRock’s Financial Institutions Group.

Before joining BlackRock in 1999, Mr. Stork was a portfolio manager at PennCorp Financial Group, a life insurance holding company, where he had oversight over asset allocation and external asset managers. He began his career in investments at Conning Asset Management.

Mr. Stork is a member of the New York Society of Financial Analysts. He earned a BA degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Geraldine Buckingham, Senior Managing Director, is Global Head of Corporate Strategy at BlackRock and a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee. She is responsible for helping BlackRock develop and implement long-term goals and respond to the competitive financial services landscape. Dr. Buckingham previously served as Head of Americas Corporate Strategy. She was named to Fortune Magazine and Crain's New York Business’ “40 Under 40” lists for 2017. She will become Chair and Head of BlackRock Asia Pacific effective February 2019.

Prior to joining BlackRock in 2014, Dr. Buckingham was a partner with McKinsey & Company’s financial services practice based in New York. She worked primarily with large global asset managers with additional experience in wealth management and private equity, as well as functional expertise in strategy and organization.

Dr. Buckingham received the Rhodes scholarship to study at Oxford University, where she earned a Master of Philosophy degree in Comparative Social Policy. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degrees from Monash University.
