We’re joining with Google.org and Omidyar Network to fund the Fast Forward accelerator and incubate nine startups using technology to solve problems in our communities — from improving literacy to empowering tenants in neglectful housing situations seek redress.
This is the 2nd year that we’re supporting Fast Forward, the San Francisco-based accelerator for nonprofits "at the intersection of tech and good". Fast Forward accelerates early-stage nonprofits with tech-powered products at their core. These organizations share a mission to solve social problems.
These non-profit startups help tackle social problems such as including education, environmental, health and human rights issues, and create meaningful change across global populations.
The nine nonprofit startups are receiving support from BlackRock, Google.org, Omidyar Network, AT&T, The Nasiri Foundation and the Rita Allen Foundation, 100 hours of pro bono services and connections to 100 mentors who are leaders in tech and philanthropy. They are focused on issues ranging from using technology to improve the lives of foster youth to making digital voting incorruptible.
BlackRock’s own history is one of an entrepreneurial start up that grew into the firm it is today by embracing and cultivating technology. We are very proud and excited to be a part of this program. It is a great opportunity to dedicate our resources and expertise to help these startups develop their powerful ideas.
