Mark Wiedman

Mark Wiedman, Senior Managing Director, is Global Head of the ETF and Index Investments business, and a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee.

Mr. Wiedman joined BlackRock in 2004 to help start what became the Financial Markets Advisory Group. This group advises financial institutions and central banks on capital markets exposures. Mr. Wiedman then led Corporate Strategy for BlackRock, before moving to iShares in 2011.

Before BlackRock, he was senior advisor for the Under Secretary for Domestic Finance at the US Treasury, and a management consultant at McKinsey. He has taught law at Renmin University in Beijing, and lectured on finance at Princeton, Stanford, and Yale.

Mr. Wiedman led BlackRock’s 2008 sponsorship of Penny Mac, a U.S. mortgage lender and servicer, and continues to serve on that company’s board (NYSE: PFSI). Mr. Wiedman earned an AB degree, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, in Social Studies from Harvard College in 1992, and a JD degree from Yale Law School in 1996.
