Anne F. Ackerley, Managing Director, is head of BlackRock's US & Canada Defined Contribution (USDC) Group. She is responsible for the development and distribution of Defined Contribution strategies and services to both institutional and retail clients and consultants. Ms. Ackerley is a member of BlackRock's Global Operating Committee and the Human Capital Committee.
In Ms. Ackerley's former roles as the Chief Marketing Officer of BlackRock and as the Chief Operating Officer for the Marketing and Communications Group, she was responsible for driving BlackRock's marketing strategy, including ongoing efforts to build the BlackRock brand. Prior to these roles, she was the Chief Operating Officer of BlackRock's Global Client Group, developing and driving strategy across BlackRock's client businesses from 2009-2011. She held various leadership roles in BlackRock's US Retail Group from 2000-2009 including serving as the head of the mutual fund group, the business liaison to the mutual fund boards and President of BlackRock's open-and closed-end mutual funds.
Prior to joining BlackRock in 2000, Ms. Ackerley spent 15 years at Merrill Lynch, most recently as the chief operating officer for the mergers and acquisitions department.
Ms. Ackerley served on the board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute from 2002 to 2005 as well as on the board of the Ethical Culture Fieldston School from 2011 to 2013. She serves on the Harvard-Radcliffe Alumni Schools Committee and is a trustee of the Riverdale Mental Health Association. Ms. Ackerley was honored by the YWCA Academy of Women Leaders in 2013 and was named a 2013 trailblazer by the National Council for Research on Women (NCRW) for her work in advancing gender equity.
Ms. Ackerley earned a BA, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, in economics from Harvard College in 1984 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1988.
