We’re supporting iMentor, an in-depth mentoring program to empower first generation students from low income communities to graduate high school and graduate from college.

Founded in 1999, iMentor was built on the simple idea of partnering with schools in low income communities to match every student with a college-educated mentor. Mentors provide students with otherwise missing individualized support, while promoting academic, social, and personal development. The program started with 49 students in the Bronx and has since gone on to create more than 20,000 mentoring relationships across the country.

iMentor has developed a model to support students through college graduation, leveraging the power of guided personal, long-term relationships and a best-in-class college success curriculum to bridge the human capital gaps in our nation’s public high schools, facilitating access to and, ultimately, graduation from college.

To date, nearly 100 employees across BlackRock have participated in the iMentor program.

Being a member of iMentor has been a significantly rewarding experience. To know that your involvement can help students realize and achieve their academic goals speaks volumes for the impact iMentor has in our community. BlackRock understands the importance of investing in our backyard and, in doing so, investing in our next generation of leaders.
